‘Motorheads’ Starring Ryan Phillippe Ordered to Series at Prime Video

“Motorheads,” a coming-of-age ensemble drama from John A. Norris (“All American”) and Jason Seagraves (“Hacksaw Ridge”), has been ordered to series by Amazon’s Prime Video.

The show follows a group of outsiders in a once-thriving rust belt town who form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of automobiles. While some characters navigate the hierarchy and rules of high school, others are racing from a dark past.

“’Motorheads’ is a gripping story, anchored around the series of ‘firsts’ that accompany young adulthood,” Lauren Anderson, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of AVOD originals, unscripted and targeted programming, said in a statement. “We have an incredible group of actors bringing John’s (out)cast of characters to life and we are excited to share this wistful, nostalgic journey with our global, Prime Video customers.”

Ryan Phillippe (“Shooter”) has been cast as Logan, a former NASCAR mechanic who now owns his own auto body shop in his hometown of Ironwood, Pennsylvania. Logan is having trouble keeping his shop afloat, and lives in the shadow of infamous brother, Christian Maddox.

The actor, best known for starring in films such as Cruel Intentions and Crash, is to host and executive producer a series delving into the history of Hollywood’s stunt performers.

The series will feature interviews with actors, producers, technicians, directors and legendary stunt performers and will highlight the often-overlooked heroes of moviemaking and the artform that has been a crucial component of film and television for more than a century. Wheelhouse DNA is currently taking the series to prospective buyers.

“Stunt performers drop audiences directly into the action and the thrill of movies, yet their job is to remain invisible,” said Phillippe. “These incredible, fearless people are integral to everything that brings a film to life and I’m happy that through this podcast we will be able to spotlight them for a change, and honor their artistry and sacrifices, all done in the name of creating movie magic.”

Wheelhouse DNA Managing Director Fanny Baudry added, “While the content world continues to evolve, DNA’s mission remains steadfast: to forge strategic partnerships with key talent and help foster fresh and exciting creative. Ryan is an incredibly accomplished and versatile talent with a resume covering three decades in entertainment – this partnership helps round out DNA’s roster and our growing position as a leader in podcasting.”

Ryan Phillippe, Mireille Enos, Kyle MacLachlan & Taryn Manning Join Michelle Danner’s Courtroom Drama ‘Miranda’s Victim’

Ryan Phillippe (MacGruber), Mireille Enos (Hanna), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) and Taryn Manning (Orange Is the New Black) are the latest additions to Michelle Danner’s courtroom drama, Miranda’s Victim. They join an ensemble led by Abigail Breslin, which also includes Luke Wilson, Andy Garcia and Donald Sutherland, as previously announced.

The film will tell the true story of Trish Weir (Breslin), who in 1963 was kidnapped and brutally raped by Ernesto Miranda. Committed to putting her assailant in prison, Trish’s life is destroyed by America’s legal system as she triggers a law that transforms the nation. Her case notably results in the establishment of the Miranda rights afforded to criminal suspects taken in police custody, to ensure the admissibility of statements made during interrogation, as part of subsequent criminal proceedings.

Phillippe will play the ACLU lawyer Flynn, who successfully argues in front of the Supreme Court to get the landmark ruling for the Miranda Rights, with MacLachlan as Chief Justice Warren, who announces the ruling. Enos will portray Trish’s mother Zeola, who struggles to support her daughter while processing her own trauma, with Manning as Miranda’s wife Twila, whose testimony is pivotal in the case.

The film written by George Kolber and J. Craig Stiles is currently in production in New Jersey, with Danner and Kolber producing alongside Valerie Debler, Brian Drillinger and Alexandra Guarnieri. The production company involved is Navesink River Productions.
